THE 2022 RACE
The Newton Turkey Trot is back on the streets in November 2022! We hope that the race will have something for everyone. In honor of our dear friend Tim O'Brien, this year's race will be dedicated to Tim and we will be spreading the word to "Bring your sneakers everywhere." We have been so inspired by having our runners in far-flung places, we want you to bring your sneakers everywhere and spread the love!
Join us on Saturday, November 19th at Zervas elementary school for our annual 5k on the beautiful, USATF Certified, Newton Turkey Trot 5k course and our 1-mile fun run.
Our goals this November remain, as always, our youth’s awareness of health and wellness and of community service. We will continue our partnership of providing support to the Newton Food Pantry and Journey Forward, a non-profit organization dedicated to bettering lives of those with spinal cord injuries or disability.

RACE FOR COMMUNITY
Nine Years of Giving
To-date, the Newton Turkey Trot has raised $130,000 to support its goals of youth awareness of health and wellness and of community service. We will continue our partnership of providing support to the Newton Food Pantry and Journey Forward.

The Newton Food Pantry has been doing an amazing job, continuing to put food on our neighbors’ tables. During the pandemic they have seen an unprecedented increase in new clients struggling with food insecurity. The Newton Food Pantry has been serving food and personal care products to close to 1,500 Newton residents. In 2021, the Newton Turkey Trot gifted $30,000 to the Pantry.

In 2022, we will continue our support Journey Forward. This non-profit has helped Ethan Wang of Newton, and others who have survived a severe spinal cord injury or disability with their intense exercise-based programs.
Run for Tim
In honor of our dear friend Tim O'Brien, this year's race will be dedicated to Tim and we will be spreading the word to "Bring your sneakers everywhere."

As many of you may already be aware, we suffered a tragedy during the November 2021 race. It is with deep sadness that we share with you that our friend, and one of the initial founding members of the NTT, passed away on the morning of the race. Tim O'Brien was known throughout the Newton community as a wonderful father, husband, and friend. Tim was also an outdoor enthusiast, an avid distance runner, and a widely loved Newton youth basketball and soccer coach. He is missed by so many of us. We will be honoring Tim by providing CPR classes for the Newton Turkey Trot community and by placing a memorial bench along one of Tim's favorite running routes. Your additional donation will go towards the CPR classes and the Memorial Bench in honor of Tim.
...and More
The Newton Turkey Trot is a family event that has drawn more than 1,000 participants each year from our community and beyond. Our family of runners are continuing to enjoy running outside again and continuing to support our fundraising goals. Both the Newton Food Pantry and Journey Forward need our support. We hope you will continue to support our race and your community.
